In most cases, the weekends are family time in our house. My husband and I spend time with our kids by going to a park, an aquarium, or staying at home and playing in the back yard. This weekend we planned to go to a Pumpkin patch, but our planes changed last minute. Instead, my husband cooked delicious food and we had a picnic in our front yard.
I call him a guru of barbeque! He can make anything on the grill… So, for the picnic we had unbelievably tasting grilled hamburgers! Juicy meat under the layers of melted cheese, fried egg and fresh vegetables… so yammy!
We topped off our lunch with almond fudge ice cream and then took a nap)) What a perfect day!
Ingredients:
1-pound ground pork
1-pound ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
3 teaspoons gourmet burger seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2/3 cup Italian style 6 cheese blend
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
Sliced Monterey Jack cheese
2 tomatoes
2 avocadoes
1 red onion
Iceberg lettuce
Buns
Grill equipment:
Weber grill
Weber chimney charcoal starter
Coals
Lighter
Step 1
My husband likes to use a Weber chimney charcoal starter. It’s a quick and easy way to light a fire. Simply load up the space on the bottom with a few paper towels or a couple pieces of newspaper, pile coals in from the top, then light the paper.
Step 2
In a bowl mix together the ground pork, ground beef, salt, black pepper, gourmet burger seasoning, garlic powder, Italian style 6 cheese blend and Parmesan cheese.
Step 3
From the meat mixture form six meat patties, slice the tomatoes, avocadoes, onion and divide the iceberg lettuce into separate leaves.
Step 4
After about 20 minutes you will see the top coals covered with gray ash. Now it’s time to pour the coals into the grill, and spread them out. Add more coals if necessary.
Step 5
Set cooking grate in place, cover grill, and allow to preheat for 5 minutes. Don’t forget to clean the grilling grate.
Step 6
Place the meat patties in the middle of the grilling grate and cook on both sides for about a minute and a half each side.
Cover each patty with two slices of Monterey Jack cheese, cover the grill with the lid and cook for two more minutes.
Step 7
Transfer the ready patties to a plate and cover with aluminum paper. Fry the eggs and build your hamburger: put the sliced avocado on the bottom of the bun, then place the meat patty, fry egg, onion, tomato, iceberg lettuce leaves and cover with the top of the bun.
Notes:
Spread the buns with a sauce of your choice: Dijon mustard, ketchup or mayonnaise.
Be very careful while working on the grill.
